What is Climate change ?

Climate change refers to the long-term shift in average weather patterns that have come to define the Earth’s local and global climates. It is caused primarily by increasing levels of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, in the atmosphere which trap heat and alter the planet’s climate system. The impacts of climate change are widespread and far-reaching, affecting both the natural environment and human societies. Some of the most significant impacts include: rising global temperatures, sea-level rise, more frequent and intense extreme weather events (e.g. heatwaves, droughts, hurricanes, floods), melting of glaciers and polar ice caps, ocean acidification, and shifts in the distribution of plant and animal species. These changes pose significant risks to human health, food security, water resources, infrastructure, and many other aspects of modern society.

Reducing your personal carbon footprint

Here are some tips on how you can reduce

your carbon footprint

  1. Reduce energy consumption: Turn off lights and electronics when not in use, use energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs, and set your thermostat to a lower temperature in winter and a higher temperature in summer

2.Reduce energy consumption: Turn off lights and electronics when not in use, use energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs, and set your thermostat to a lower temperature in winter and a higher temperature in summer

3. Reduce, reuse, recycle: Reduce waste by choosing products with minimal packaging, reuse items whenever possible, and recycle to minimize the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.

4. Reduce meat consumption: Animal agriculture is a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. Consider reducing the amount of meat in your diet, or choosing more environmentally-friendly options like seafood and plant-based protein.

5. Purchase environmentally-friendly products: Look for products made from sustainable materials, manufactured using clean energy, and packaged in a way that minimizes waste.
